Pathfinders Camp - Making Camping Accessible

Pathfinders Camp brings together people with and without disabilities to enjoy camping holidays and caters mainly for women aged 18 and over. If you could help a disabled woman to have the time of her life, we’d love to hear from you!

What You'll Do:

Working as a member of a small team, you will provide personal assistance and the encouragement that enables a disabled camper to play a full part in a range of activities, which will include cooking over open fires, music making, swimming in the outdoor heated pool, aerial runway, arts and crafts, disco, treasure hunts and campfires. More information is available from our website.

Why You'll Love It:

We can think of at least 6 good reasons why you might want to join us:Pathfinders Camp

If you love camping, the great outdoors and adventures

If you believe that giving is part of living and you’d like to volunteer

If you are seeking to make new friends with like-minded people

If you would like to share your experience and ideas

If you want to build new skills and abilities

If you have an interest in accessibility and enabling others to join in fully

What You'll Learn:

This opportunity is ideal for someone aiming to enter nursing, caring, medical, or teaching professions, amongst others. You will learn that ability is far more important than disability – and that we all have abilities. You can complete your DofE Gold Residential with Pathfinders Camp and, at the same time, gain life skills, enhance your CV and do something awesome that makes a difference. Pathfinders Camp is a registered charity and an Approved Activity Provider for the DofE, creating high-quality, low-cost residential opportunities. Over 100 DofE participants have volunteered with us over the years. A good proportion of these volunteers have returned to Pathfinders Camp in subsequent years, becoming team leaders and crew members over time.

What We're Looking For:

We would love your help realising our mission of making camping accessible, such that disabled women (18 and over) can experience the simple pleasures of camping under canvas on an idyllic campsite on the edge of Farnham in Surrey. Pathfinders Camp is a registered charity receiving no external funding. We work hard to keep our camp fees as low as possible through our fundraising efforts. Everyone who attends Pathfinders Camp is asked to pay the same fee – whether they are a disabled camper, volunteer helper, crew member, camp leader or trustee. The camp fee for 2024 is £180 - bursaries are available. This covers all accommodation, activities and food – but not travel to or from camp.
