Are you able to spend one hour a week visiting someone in their own home and helping them feel less socially isolated? Our volunteers make a huge difference to those they visit whilst building up their communication skills.
About the role
Our volunteers are an essential part of our organisation, enabling us to provide a wide breadth of services to our service users. By becoming a befriender, you can develop your communication and interpersonal skills. You will make a vital difference to the people you contact by reducing their sense of loneliness and social isolation.
Time Commitment
This role requires a weekly commitment at a time to be agreed by both you and our client. We will regularly make contact with you both to see how the relationship is building and would ask you to commit to a weekly call for the minimum of 12 weeks.
In order to ensure a member of staff is available in case of a safeguarding concern, we ask that contact is made Mon-Fri between 9-5.
Requirements
We are looking for individual who are friendly, patient and have strong listening skills. Wherever possible you will be matched with a client who shares similar interests.
