Welfare Watch Volunteers

What You'll Do: 

The Support Zone and the Students Union are looking for student volunteers to assist and improve student safety on Rubix nights. Our amazing Welfare Watch volunteers are involved in assisting and supporting those who are drunk, incapacitated or just need a quite and safe space during a night out. This support will be given by providing a safe and comfortable hub for drunk students to sober up, which is based in the front room, and signposting if necessary.

What does this role involve?
This voluntary role will be made up of two components. Volunteers will always work in pairs
1) To assist and supervise the wellbeing of drunk students when they are in the sober shack. This may include helping students contact friends or be sick, providing refreshments, and contacting taxi services.
2) To look out for students that are in a drunk and vulnerable state outside of Rubix (in the lonely mile) and surrounding areas. Offering water and signposting drunk students to the sober shack or other appropriate services.

-To be able to use initiative when presented with novel or unusual situations.

This role is open to all students and would be great for anyone who enjoys caring for people and is looking to expand and develop their volunteering experience. This role will also look fab on a CV!
