Woodlarks Camp Site Trust (WCST) is a charity (306148) that manages a beautiful campsite that has been adapted to enable people of all ages with a range of disabilities to enjoy the fresh air and freedom of camping under canvas.

Our primary need is for people who are willing and able to help with our ‘open camps’. Each of these camps serves a different community, with some for teenagers, girls and boys, some for men, some for women, and some for mixed groups.
We need volunteers to enable a disabled person to participate fully in the holiday on offer. Volunteering might involve providing personal care, emotional support, or the encouragement and enthusiasm that ensures nobody remains on the sidelines.
Suppose that a more personal role isn’t for you. In that case, we also welcome volunteers to our working parties in the spring and autumn, where practical skills can be used to get the campsite into the best condition for the season ahead or put the campsite ‘to bed’ for winter.
- A week at Woodlarks can be exhausting – but it can also be exhilarating to know that your help has made it possible for someone to enjoy a camping experience they may have thought impossible.
- You can acquire or hone a wide range of transferable skills – such as better communication, personal care, empathy, team building, and experience meeting people of all ages from all walks of life. These skills are excellent for those wishing to enter medicine, nursing, social work, and teaching professions.
- Volunteering is a great item to enhance your CV – and it’s great to discuss at interviews.
- Camping at Woodlarks may qualify you for the residential section of your DofE Gold Award.
- Above all, our camps are great fun, and the feel-good factor can’t be overestimated.
