Responsible for helping over 5000 students move onto campus during Welcome Weekend 14th - 15th September 2024.
Welcome Weekend is the moment when thousands of new students join us at Surrey, arriving with cars full of luggage and saying their farewells to family members. The Students' Union provides a team of volunteers to be the smiling faces greeting brand new students for the first time. You'll be places around Stag Hill and Manor Park Campuses to greet and direct. Freshers' Angels help students to move into their rooms and settle in during their first few hours of being a student - when help is needed most!
Many students talk about how they were helped and welcomed during Welcome Weekend by freshers angels. It really is a special experience and can start to shape your time here at the University of Surrey and help you feel like you are part of the Surrey Community. Perhaps you remember having a similar experience and would like to offer the same experience to Freshers. Not only do you gain a load of free food, you gain transferable life skills that make you more employable; you are responsible for the biggest voluntary activity in our year!
